The
principals have over 25+ years experience developing products for
the medical markets including active and passive dry powder inhalers
for adult, pediatric and infant applications. Our expertise includes user interface
and ergonomic development, industrial design development, mechanical
engineering development and manufacturing.
Drew Jones, President of
Manta Devices LLC, has designed and developed successful products
for a variety of manufacturers of medical devices and instruments,
consumer products, and business equipment. His multi-disciplinary
experience encompasses product design, ergonomics, and manufacturing.
He has been recognized with international design awards from the
IDSA’s annual Industrial Design Museum of Modern Art, New
York, and the Industrial Designers Society of America. Mr. Jones
holds numerous US and international patents.
Mr. Jones holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial
Design from the University of the Arts, Philadelphia, PA. Some of
the companies that he has worked with include Alkermes, Eli Lilly,
Hewlett-Packard Medical, Tyco Healthcare, Philips Medical, and Smith
+ Nephew.
Rich Miller, Vice President
of Research and Technology, has experience in the design, development,
and manufacturing of a wide variety of medical, consumer and industrial
products. He has managed mechanical, electrical, and software engineering,
and led product development and technology research, manufacturing
engineering, regulatory agency compliance, intellectual property,
and documentation control.
Prior to joining Manta, Mr. Miller was Vice
President of Engineering for Thermo IEC, a Thermo Electron business
that manufactures microprocessor controlled, electromechanical laboratory
centrifuges and accessories for medical, research, and industrial
applications.
Previously, Mr. Miller worked as a consultant,
where he led the development of a wide range of medical, dental,
consumer, and industrial products for client companies including
Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Haemonetics, Millipore, Bard, Herman
Miller, bioMerieux, and Black and Decker. He also worked for ACT
Medical, a manufacturer of high volume disposable and reusable medical
devices for endoscopy, cardiology, urology, laparoscopy and radiology.
Mr. Miller holds Bachelor of Science and Master
of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology. He has won several BusinessWeek
Best Product Design of the Year Awards, is the holder of US and
International patents, and has published in a variety of scientific
journals.
